Public Breastfeeding

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The other day I was on Facebook and saw a picture of a woman breastfeeding in public. Some of the comments were all about how disturbing and inappropriate this behavior was. One of the things that I noticed about those negative comments was that every one of them came from a man. This isn’t surprising to me, especially since men have always tried to control women and subjugate them in some form or fashion throughout history. Me being myself, I can’t help but to express my own thoughts on this subject.

Fitness Test Wake Up Call

Reading Time: 4 minutes

In the Marine Corps we have a tendency to put a lot of emphasis on our fitness. We believe, and are quite possible correct in our thought, that we have the hardest fitness standards than any other branch. We like to compete and brag about high scores. In fact, most Marines even attach a higher regard for fitness test results than for job performance or even rifle qualifications. Marines can be so ingrained into our culture that they don’t even realize that while physical fitness may come naturally to some, others of us have to work hard at it to maintain. To those of us growing up in the Marines, we don’t realize how much harder our fitness is to maintain until we reach a certain point.
Who am I?

Who am I?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I believe that the question of “Who am I?” runs in the back of just about everybody’s mind, whether consciously or subconsciously. Most of us think we have some type of idea of who we are. In reality though, is it really even possible for us to know fully and completely who we are as individuals? Or are we too close to ourselves that we fool ourselves into believing that we are more, less, or just different than who we truly are?

Resistance to U equals U

As a nation, and as a community, it is our duty to make the world around us a better place. I believe that our purpose in life is to take what we have been given and improve upon it. That means that we must be willing to not only accept change, but to make change happen. After all, change is the only way to take something and improve upon it.
